Resources from CHIRLA and Other California-Based Organizations:
Immigrant Assistance Hotline: If you or someone you know has been detained by ICE or needs to report a detention, you can contact CHIRLA Immigrant Assistance Hotline at (888) 624-4752. CHIRLA stands for the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights and is a California-based organization with national impact. CHIRLA works to achieve human rights, and participatory democracy, with a mission to create a just, immigrant-inclusive society.
“Know your Rights” cards contain essential information to protect yourself against deportation. If possible, print and keep it with you at all times.
Caregiver Authorization Declaration: This document allows parents to designate a caregiver for their children in case of detention.
We Have Rights - Educational Videos to safely prepare and defend our rights during encounters with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.
Know Your Rights:
Regardless of immigration status, all individuals in the United States have rights and protections under the U.S. Constitution. It’s essential to consult with a trusted legal service provider if you have any questions regarding your specific situation. The resources above can help guide you, and professional legal counsel is always recommended.
Finding a Detained Family Member:
If you need help locating a family member detained by immigration (ICE), you can contact CHIRLA’s Los Angeles office at (213) 830-7911 for support and guidance.
